Monte Carlo, the data reliability company, today announced their integration with Snowpark, the new developer experience for Snowflake, the Data Cloud company. As part of this integration, Snowpark will support Java and Scala UDFs, enabling data engineers, data scientists, and developers who prefer other languages to take advantage of Snowflake’s powerful platform capabilities and the benefits of Snowflake’s Data Cloud.
Monte Carlo, which just announced their official partnership with Snowflake in May 2021, is an end-to-end solution that allows data engineers and analysts to seamlessly monitor the health and dependencies of their data assets across the Data Cloud, from ingestion to analytics – all in one collaborative interface. Simultaneously, Monte Carlo provides CDOs and other data stakeholders with a holistic view of their company’s data health and reliability across critical business use cases.
Snowflake is an industry leader when it comes to helping data teams store, process and extract insight from JSON structures, making semi structured data a first-class citizen. With Monte Carlo, data teams are able to track the schema of JSON structures as they are ingested and processed on Snowflake. With visibility into field additions, removals and type changes data teams can prevent breakages as data structures evolve and take advantage of newly available information.
As the industry’s only SOC-2 certified, end-to-end Data Observability Platform, Monte Carlo is committed to ensuring the security and privacy of their customers’ most important asset: their data. With Snowpark, Monte Carlo can now leverage a Java UDF to monitor the schema of nested JSON within the warehouse, without ever pulling PII or other types of sensitive data from the Snowflake environment. With this change, Monte Carlo customers enjoy the added peace of mind of keeping their JSON data strictly within their own Snowflake instance. This makes data monitoring and observability in Monte Carlo faster and more secure, while increasing developer productivity and data trust for Snowflake customers.
“At Monte Carlo, security runs in our DNA. Our integration with Snowpark is a natural progression of our Snowflake partnership, and we couldn’t be more excited to roll out these capabilities to our users,” said Lior Gavish, CTO at Monte Carlo. “Snowpark’s Java UDF gives our customers the tools they need to enhance efficiency and collaboration in the Data Cloud, while resting assured that their data is trustworthy and reliable at each stage of its lifecycle.”
With Java UDFs, customers can bring functions they have in JVM and execute right inside of Snowflake’s Data Cloud with Snowflake’s powerful processing engine, for better performance, scalability and concurrency, greatly expanding the transformation capabilities and reducing management complexity from hosting external services.
“Snowpark supports Snowflake’s mission of mobilizing the world’s data by giving even more users the ability to achieve powerful data insights,” said Tarik Dwiek, Director of Technology Alliances at Snowflake. “We are thrilled to partner with Monte Carlo on our vision for data programmability and developer productivity in the Data Cloud.”
Monte Carlo’s Snowpark and Java and Scala UDF integrations will be available for public preview starting July 1, 2021.
